Takeout and delivery food is more popular these days than ever, and you can order it in just a few seconds with the push of a button. The range of options has broadened considerably in recent years, making it easy to find a restaurant you love no matter what your favorite food is. Take a look at some of the best takeout and delivery possibilities in Salt Lake City, Utah, below.

SugarHouse Barbecue Co.

The SugarHouse Barbeque Co. is renowned for its delicious drive-through and delivery barbecue. The Family Meal Deal comes with a pound of pulled pork, eight signature ribs, a pint of coleslaw, a pint of barbecue beans, a pint of macaroni and cheese, and a whole bottle of barbecue sauce. If you want to start with an appetizer, go with their loaded fries, smoked chicken wings, or glazed rib tips. You can place an order Tuesday through Thursday from 11:30 a.m. to 8 p.m., and they close at 9 p.m. on Friday and Saturday. On Sunday, they’re open from noon to 8 p.m. 

Saffron Valley

You can have a taste of India delivered to your door or ready for pickup the next time your stomach starts growling. Saffron Valley is one of the most popular Indian restaurants in the Salt Lake City area, and it has locations in downtown Salt Lake City, Sugar House, South Jordan, Riverton, and the University of Utah. Start your meal with a traditional vegan Punjabi samosa, which is a savory pastry with mashed potato, roasted cumin, peas, coriander, and ginger. You can choose from a variety of sauces.

If you want something heavier, try the chicken pakoras. These dishes have fried chicken tenders with a special masala spice blend and a cilantro dipping sauce. If you want something easy to handle on the go, order a dosa: a savory rice and lentil crepe with tomato chutney, sambar, and fresh coconut. Mad Greek

There’s a location in Millcreek and one in south Salt Lake, and they’re both about 10 minutes away from Salt Lake City. Long Life Vegi House

For over two decades, this welcoming vegetarian restaurant has been a popular Salt Lake City destination. The people at Long Life Vegi House offer a largely vegetarian Chinese menu for takeout and delivery. Their spinach tofu soup, hot-and-sour soup, and green bean ball soup are great starters. Long Life’s menu lists many vegetarian alternatives to famous Chinese meat plates, including vegetarian beef lo mein, vegetarian chicken lo mein, vegetarian lemon chicken, and vegetarian General Tso’s chicken. Real meat options are available too, including chicken with black bean sauce, ham fried rice, curry chicken, and Taiwanese rice noodles. 

The vegetarian dinner for two comes with hot-and-sour or egg-drop soup, vegetarian fried rice, vegetarian lo mein, spring rolls, and vegetarian sweet-and-sour pork. The meat dinner for two comes with the same items in a more traditional form. Long Life Vegi House offers 18 lunch specials, all of which are accompanied by rice and a spring roll. Popular options include Mongolian chicken, cashew nut chicken, tofu, and tofu with spicy garlic sauce.

Afghan Kitchen

If you want to try some unique cuisine for takeout or delivery, order from Afghan Kitchen. It’s in south Salt Lake, about 10 minutes away from Salt Lake City. The My Meating dish  is big enough for two people, and it comes with chicken qabuli palow, a beef kebab, a chicken kebab, burani banjan, salaata, long-grained seasoned white rice, and five beef dumplings. The Meat n Kabul option serves three people, and it has chicken qabuli palow, mixed chicken and beef dashi, a beef kebab, a chicken kebab, salaata, burani banjan, long-grained seasoned white rice, and five beef dumplings.

The Afghan Feast is enough food for five people, and it includes lamb shank qabuli palow along with the items in the Meat n Kabul. Vegetarians adore the Afghan Kitchen’s Plant Lover Meals. The Bi Plants dish comes with your choice of two vegetarian dishes, an appetizer, salaata, and long-grained seasoned rice. VeggieFull comes with three vegetarian dishes and the same additional items as in the Bi Plants dish. The VeggieLand serves five people, and it comes with pumpkin, lentils, eggplant, spinach, 10 pumpkin dumplings, salaata, and long-grained seasoned rice.

You can also enjoy garlic Naan with a cooling cucumber-yogurt sauce, tomato chutney, chili paste, or hot sauce. For dessert, try the firni, which is an Afghan pudding with cardamom and crushed pistachios. You can place an order Tuesday through Sunday from 4 to 9 p.m.
