Mazda has an exciting lineup of SUVs for you to choose from. There's everything here to meet your needs, from compact crossovers for city driving, such as the CX-30, to more spacious SUVs perfect for the whole family to travel comfortably, such as the CX-9. Our sales team at Bountiful Mazda has created an overview highlighting some of the key strengths of each Mazda SUV. We hope this helps you find your perfect vehicle.
Mazda CX-30
Starting at the compact end of the Mazda lineup, the CX-30 is a two-row SUV with seating for five people. Both rows can accommodate adult passengers, and you'll find around 20 cubic feet of storage space at the rear. That's enough room to carry a large load of groceries for a family or a few suitcases for a short vacation. You can fold down the rear row of seats to open up 45 cubic feet of cargo space.

The CX-30's compact body and powerful engine options make this subcompact crossover an excellent vehicle for driving on city roads and highways. Even the base engine, a 2.5-liter four-cylinder unit with 186 horsepower, provides plenty of power. If you want additional power under the hood, the CX-30's optional turbocharged engine offers just that. It can churn out 227 horsepower with standard gas or 250 horsepower with premium fuel.
Inside the cabin, the CX-30 boasts an 8.8-inch infotainment screen and an eight-speaker stereo. Its connectivity features include a Wi-Fi hotspot, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, and Bluetooth. You can add a 12-speaker premium stereo for better sound quality or a navigation system to plan the route to your next destination.
The CX-30 has a base MSRP of $22,950, making this crossover an excellent choice for buyers on a modest budget. If you want the more powerful turbocharged engine, you'll need to choose from one of the top three trims in the lineup, which includes seven trims in total.
Mazda CX-5
If the CX-30 is a little cramped for your needs, the CX-5 is the next step up in terms of size. It’s still a compact crossover, but you gain a little more cargo room at the rear and a touch more legroom in the second row. It has 29 cubic feet of cargo space with the second row in use and over 58 cubic feet when the rear row is folded flat.
The CX-5 offers the same two engines as the CX-30. In this model, the base four-cylinder unit makes 187 horsepower, while the turbocharged engine achieves 256 horsepower. The CX-5 can get up to 30 mpg on the highway and has a maximum towing capacity of 2,000 pounds. That should be enough to haul a small camper or trailer out of town for the weekend.
The CX-5's infotainment system consists of a 10.25-inch screen, a four-speaker stereo, and several connectivity options: Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, Bluetooth, and a Wi-Fi hotspot. You can upgrade to a 10-speaker premium stereo and a navigation system.
The base CX-5 has an MSRP of $26,700. There are eight trims on offer throughout the lineup. One of the main differences to keep in mind is that the top two trims, known as 2.5 Turbo and 2.5 Turbo Signature, come with the larger turbocharged engine.
Mazda CX-50
The CX-50 is similar to the CX-5 in terms of engine options and interior dimensions. However, its looks and capabilities target drivers who enjoy a little more adventure. You'll notice this with the exterior styling elements, which give this new addition to Mazda's crossover lineup a more rugged appearance. It's also evident in the CX-50's towing capacity, which reaches 3,500 pounds. This increased capacity means you can tow a decent-sized boat or a mid-sized camper at the rear.
The CX-50 has 8.6 inches of ground clearance, so it's great for tackling trails. A traction management system also helps this Mazda's all-wheel-drive system perform better on rough terrain. In terms of fuel economy, the CX-50 is comparable with the CX-5, achieving up to 30 mpg on the highway.
Inside the cabin, the CX-50 offers over 31 cubic feet of storage at the rear. Folding down the second row will give you around 56 cubic feet. As for entertainment, this crossover has an 8.8-inch display, an eight-speaker stereo, Wireless Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, and a Wi-Fi hotspot. Optional upgrades include a 12-speaker stereo, a 10.25-inch screen, and wireless device charging.
The CX-50 is slightly more expensive than the CX-5, having an MSRP in the base trim of $27,550. There are currently nine trims on offer, although we expect a 10th trim for off-roading fans later this model year. The top three trims offer the more powerful turbocharged engine.
Mazda CX-9
If you need a third row of seats to accommodate family or friends, the CX-9 is the perfect choice for you. This midsized SUV has room for up to seven passengers in its base configuration. If you swap out the second-row bench seat for captain's chairs, the capacity drops to six. At the rear, you have 14 cubic feet of storage space, which is about the same as what you'd find in a large trunk.
The only engine in the CX-9 lineup is a turbocharged 2.5-liter unit that puts out 227 horsepower with standard gas or 250 horsepower with premium fuel. Like all other Mazdas in the SUV lineup, all-wheel drive is standard. This power train can manage up to 26 mpg on the highway and offers a towing capacity of 3,500 pounds.
Entertainment features in the CX-9 include a 10.3-inch display and a six-speaker stereo. Standard connectivity options include Bluetooth, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, and a Wi-Fi hotspot. You can add a 12-speaker premium stereo, a navigation system, and wireless device charging.
The CX-9's MSRP is $38,750 in its base trim. You can choose from six trims, all of which have the same power train. The first step up from the base trim, the CX-9 Touring, gets you leather upholstery in the cabin to provide a more upscale feel.
