Riverside Country Club

The golf course at Riverside Country Club is available exclusively to the country club's members and their guests. It's the home course of the Brigham Young University's Men's and Ladies Golf Teams and hosts many local and national tournaments each year. It's one of the best things to do near Salt Lake City.

William F. Bell designed this 18-hole par-72 regulation-length course on ryegrass. It features 7,001 yards from the longest tees. Its course rating is 72.3, and its slope rating is 125. It also touts a 15-tee driving range. The Riverside Country Club's staff will help you with all your golfing needs, from clothing to clubs. Take advantage of golf professional Chris Moody's instruction and top-notch ladies and junior programs.

The Links at Sleepy Ridge

You'll enjoy a unique experience in the heart of the Valley at The Links at Sleepy Ridge. This links-style 18-hole course lets you imagine you're playing a fabulous round in Scotland without the expense of airfare — and kilts aren't required either. Matthew E. Dye designed this facility in Orem, and the owners opened the Blue Rye 7,017-yard par-72 course in 2005.

Both expert and beginner golfers find it affordable and challenging, saying it's a fun play. The greens offer a lot of variation in roll, and there are terrific views of Utah Lake. It also features a 40-tee driving range, and the three-story clubhouse is something special, offering plenty of old country inspiration. Inside you'll find the cafe. It's the perfect place to grab a sandwich, share stories, and relax with your friends after your round.

Hobble Creek Golf Course

This municipal facility sits within Hobble Creek Canyon in Springville. Hobble Creek's 18-hole par-71 championship course has served Provo's golfers for nearly 50 years. It features a slightly smaller run at 6,400 yards. It has a course rating of 69.4 and a slope rating of 120. It also touts a 12-tee driving range, a pro shop, a snack bar, and putting and chipping greens.

William F. Bell designed this course that opened in 1973, so Hobble Creek offers mature trees and picturesque canyon views that have captivated generations of golf enthusiasts. It's well-maintained and inviting and provides an extraordinary opportunity to refine your skills while enjoying the outdoors.

The Oaks at Spanish Fork

The Oaks at Spanish Fork is another of our favorite local courses. Here, you'll enjoy 6,358 yards of golf and a par of 72. Billy Casper designed this Blue Rye course in 1982. It has a rating of 68.7 with a slope rating of 115. You'll love playing at this lovely facility in the fall as the leaves change on the majestic mountain backdrop. It's one course where you'll want to stay out of the sand.

This golf course and event center also offers a 20-tee driving range, putting greens, pro shop, practice bunker, and snack bar. Consider professional instruction if you need a skills refresher or are new to the sport. Spanish Fork offers 45-minute golf lessons for adults and children by PGA Apprentice Janson Eisenstat that will help you grow your game.

Fox Hollow Golf Club

Since it opened in 1971, the 18-hole golf course at Fox Hollow Golf Club has delighted both young and old Provo golfers. It's a five-time winner of the Best Utah Valley Range Facility award for good reasons. This par-72 course features 7,189 yards of golf. The Bermuda grass course rates 73.3, has a slope rating of 128, and has an extensive, 35-tee driving range. Joe Williams designed Fox Hollow, a tremendous municipal course for the price.

You won't find a range of tricky holes, but it is long, and there are a few holes where you can earn some strokes back if you find yourself behind par. Consider investing in an annual season pass. It includes green fees and access to member-only events, and you can take advantage of convenient monthly payment options that make the cost more affordable.

TalonsCove Golf Club

The 18-hole par-72 course at the TalonsCove Golf Club and Reception Center in Saratoga Springs offers golfers 7,004 yards from the longest tees. Gene Bates designed the course that opened in 2004. You'll love its grassy fairways, challenging bunkers, and unexpected sand traps.

The course offers a few exciting twists along the way. Remember to log on to the club's website and get a golf pro's advice about approaching each hole before you even set foot on the grass. You'll learn to play TalonsCove like a champion when you follow along. This outstanding facility also offers an all-grass driving range with 20 tees, two putting greens, a pitching green, and a practice sand trap.

If you have kids or seniors in your group, stop by on Mondays for special rates and save. Consider enrolling the little ones in the Junior Golf Academy with instructor Milo Lines next summer and get a jump on fall tournament play.
